Love is hard, are you ready for it?

I posted this on my Facebook fan page ( feel free to head over there and like it) and have been thinking about it ever since.

It is easy to hate and it is difficult to love. This is how the whole scheme of things works. All
good things are difficult to achieve; and bad things are very easy to get.

Think about the meaning of this. What does it say to you?

I am going to break it down and explain what it means to me.

  • It is easy to hate and it is difficult to love. Love is extremely hard to do right. Hate, or even apathy, is easy. With love you sometimes have to sacrifice to show your love. With hate, or as I said apathy, you can stay exactly the same. Hate has no sacrifice to have that emotion. However, hate will eventually wear you down and you will have no capacity to love.
  •  All good things are difficult to achieve. The good things in life take time and effort to achieve. Lets look at love, since this is in the quote. Love requires patience, sacrifice, respect, trust and action on all of these. Any of these is hard to give, all of these are especially hard to give consistently. But, it is worth it.
  • Bad things are very easy to get. The bad things in life are easy to come by, require no effort. Look at our addictions. Pornography is everywhere. Drugs and alcohol are available, even to teenagers and younger children. Facebook, Twitter and other social sites take away time from you that you could be using to better your life.  All that is bad, yet easy to get.

So, I believe this quote explains a lot about where we are as a society. The majority looks for easy ways to deal with their issues, after we are a gotta have it now society. Instant gratification instead of lasting happiness.

The purest, most important thing we can is love others, especially those we are in a relationship with. Lets look at that for a second. We have an extremely high divorce rate, broken homes, and abortion rates through the roof. As a society we don’t give love a chance, we take the easy way out. We fall back on the easy things, seeking instant gratification instead of making the effort for love. Love has been a throw away emotion. We hit hard times, and throw it away moving on to something else. Looking at our society, its obvious that most people don’t fight for love. Which is sad and explains the condition our society is in.
