Thoughts on Vision

I truly believe having a vision is vital to living your one life to fullest. That is why I start my coaching programs with creating a vision for my clients. It can be their vision for their life, business or the leader they want to be.

Why do I believe that a vision is important for people to have? To me, it is more than a coaching tool, it is a way of living, a way of staying aware of the life I want. I found a quote that sums up why having a vision is so important.

“If a man does not know what port he is steering for, no wind is favorable to him.”
Seneca

If you have no vision of where you want to go, nothing you do is going to lead you there. You will go through life bouncing from fad to fad, job to job, relationship to relationship and never know why you aren’t fulfilled.

Only when you have a vision, a port to steer towards, can you arrive where you want to be. When you know the destination you can align your actions to reach your vision.

Without a vision, a port if you will, nothing you do is favorable to your journey. Everything you do will leave you empty or confused.

Five Questions to Ask Yourself

  1. Do you know how you want your life (business, relationships, etc.) to be?
  2. Do you bounce from fad to fad, looking for the next thing to make you happy?
  3. Do you feel that you have no purpose, are floating through life?
  4. Are you trying to “find yourself”?
  5. Do you feel like you are living to your potential?

So, what does your answers say about your life?

Are you steering towards a port or letting the winds of your life push you around without a destination?
